Why work for us?
The Virginia Tech Student Calling Center (VTSCC) is looking for enthusiastic, friendly and motivated students to help the university grow. Work in a fun and energized environment that includes music and games, and get paid for it! Hourly rates start at $8.00, and employees have the chance to win prizes based on performance during every shift.
The VTSCC is a largely student-run telefundraising organization located in the University Mall on the Blacksburg Transit’s Tom’s Creek route. Students call alumni, parents, students, and friends of Virginia Tech to raise money for the many academic programs across campus. If you are a full-time Virginia Tech student, read on, because this might be the job for you.
Requirements
We are currently looking for students who:
- Have experience dealing with the public.
- Can speak English clearly.
- Have training or experience in marketing, sales, and public relations.
- Can record data accurately.
- Have experience with Microsoft Windows.
- Can present a compelling case to persuade people to support Virginia Tech programs.
ID's Required: You must have one of the following examples of ID's before your interview
- US Passport
- Driver's License and original Social Security Card
- Driver's License and original copy of Birth Certificate
- Hokie Passport and original Social Security Card
- Hokie Passport and original copy of Birth Certificate
Student callers are responsible for communicating the goals and accomplishments of the university to potential donors and asking these donors to give money in support of the academic programs and various university fundraising efforts across campus. VTSCC callers should exhibit leadership, professionalism, initiative and a positive attitude when performing all duties. Additionally, qualified employees have the opportunity to move into supervisory and managerial positions.
Students can choose two nights of the week they want to work for the whole semester from 5:45 pm to 9:15 pm with alternating Sundays.
